Awkward

Have you ever had that feeling where you’re reminded of a thing that hasn’t occupied your mind for a long time and it makes your head spin? I had a moment like that today.
Until 3pm or so, it was a pretty uneventful day. I literally vegetated in front of the tv till then. It got a little sunnier outside so my mom and I decided to go shopping in the little time we had left before Marie came back from school. The stores in Barrhaven kind of suck for clothes shopping, so we went down to Baseline I think it was, where there’s a bunch of outlet stores. We went in to just about every store on the block, coming out with new pants to show for it. But then we walked into Aldo. It’s a shoe store that I generally like. We looked around at the bright red heels, the ballet flats and then just as I picked up a pair of cute black heels, I heard someone say my name, and it wasn’t my mom. I looked up and oh my God I wasn’t prepared for who it was.
Phil Lawlor. I’ll just fill you in on some back story. After dating my first boyfriend for about 8 months or so, Phil started hanging out with me a lot and began to lure me away from my boyfriend at the time, which turned out to be a good thing because, well, Justin was terrible. So anyways, as soon as I broke up with Justin, Phil and I had a bit of a fling and then I pretty well immediately realized I should get rid of him. So I did. And then I basically tried to avoid the guy until we parted ways after high school. So you can imagine my surprise when I was suddenly face to face with him. It was odd to say the least.
Needless to say, after a very short chat, I looked around for about 2 minutes so it wasn’t obvious that I left because of him and then grabbed my mom and went to the next store.
I guess it goes to show that no matter how far away you go from your past, you can never fully escape it.
